My Journey: from KS3 to Higher Education
We’re inviting teachers to discover a fresh approach to helping your students explore future options, through a new initiative, called My Journey: from KS3 to Higher Education.
The programme is comprised of six flexible bitesize sessions, lasting 20 to 30 minutes each, suitable for Years 7 and 8 and to be used during tutor time. These sessions can be adapted or broken down to suit your timeframe. Each session is filled with interactive games and quizzes, encouraging students to discover their future pathways.
Using the NERUPI framework (NERUPI is a research community working on university participation interventions) the programme will offer a positive introduction to Higher Education for younger students.
The six sessions cover a student’s journey from their upcoming GCSE choices, all the way through to Higher Education and their future careers:
Session 1: Introduction and choosing GCSE options
Session 2: Post – 16 options
Session 3: What is University?
Session 4: University Life
Session 5: Virtual Campus Tour
Session 6: Education Timeline
Each session is provided as a PowerPoint presentation for teachers to deliver yourself. Alongside each session, there are accompanying teacher’s notes to guide you through delivering the session. Most sessions also include printable resources and worksheets for students to use.
