Maths Winsten Day at the University of Essex

Wednesday 28 April 2021 (half-day event)

The Winsten Day is a free maths-based enrichment event, held in honour of Professor Christopher Winsten, an internationally respected probability theorist and former lecturer at the University of Essex.

Students attending will be invited to take part in:

  • a series of interactive webinar sessions designed to provide the opportunity to explore mathematical problem-solving more deeply
  • exploring the wide variety of options available when choosing to study mathematics related subjects, post age 18

There will also be current Maths undergraduates present on the day to share their own experiences of studying maths at university.

The day will conclude with the annual Winsten lecture. Previous Winsten speakers have included Joe Twyman, Director of Political and Social Research at YouGov, and Stella Dudzic, the 2012 Royal Statistical Society Lecturer to Schools.
