Friday 4 August
11am – 8pm
University of Essex, Colchester
For Year 13 Sixth Form students or Year 2 College students
Preparing to start university this year but feeling anxious about the next step? To help you get ahead of the game, we have prepared an exciting day of sessions
This free 1 day event is designed to get you up to speed with how the first few months of university will work. Along with academics and student support services, you’ll get an insight into what challenges students often face when they first start university and what support will be available if you need it.
Across the day, you’ll also get to hang out with current students who are studying at different universities across Essex. This is your chance to get to know exactly what university life is actually like. Things like how you’ll settle in, how you’ll make friends and how to live independently will be covered.
Parents/carers will be invited to join us from 18:00 onwards for the final session of the day. This will cover how you can best support your child through university and things to be aware of as their first day approaches.
By the end of the day, students and parents/carers will feel confident to tackle all aspects of university of life head on.
This is a great opportunity for a small group of students starting university this year. Those in their final year of college who are planning on deferring their place until next year are also welcome to join us.
