Subject taster: Teaching for years 7-13

This whistle-stop subject taster session on Teaching for years 7-13 will help guide you if you are interested in a career working with young people.

In the sessions we will focus on Primary and Secondary teaching. As well as briefly covering Special Needs teaching, teaching abroad, teaching in independent schools and Early Years Settings. Tasks have been set for you to complete and submit, as well as signposting you to suitable websites and videos for you to carry out your own research.

Question and Answer sessions will be available if you require any additional support, want to talk about your own route in to teaching or want to go over any tasks that have been set.

Here’s one of the summer school tasks completed by attendee Em, who devised the Wiggly Worm multiplication game, and she has really gone the extra mile with it!

Em said: “I would try it with year 1 or year 2 children. I thought that a younger age group would love the colours; I included different challenges such as the quick fire round to help them to become quicker at reciting their two times tables. I included the star jump challenge to help them to be active while learning maths at the same time!”

Can you use your imagination like Em has? Find out by joining our teaching taster session – sign up here!
