The workshop took part at the Plume Maldon’s Community Academy – following the earlier success of the study skills workshop for year 10 students. A specialist company, Made for Education, visited the academy to deliver the additional workshop, which focused on how students could develop effective revision techniques.

During the workshop students learned how to motivate themselves to revise, analyse their performance and prioritise their efforts, condense information to create effective revision resources, and use mnemonic and spatial memory techniques.

Feedback from students following the workshops was overwhelmingly positive, with 95% students finding the content useful and 90% of students saying they’ll go on to use the techniques they learned.

Comments from students included: “I will most definitely apply these techniques and will review/ benchmark my progress every 2 weeks… It helped broaden my knowledge on techniques to revise.”

The academy’s year 11 head, Miss B Meltzer, added: “As we approach the final exams in May 2020, the application of such techniques will be vital in supporting their progress.”
