UEL Summer School 2026

In July 2026, the University of East London’s Summer School welcomed 70 students from schools and colleges across London, Essex and Thurrock to the Docklands Campus for a fun and inspiring week of entrepreneurship. Delivered in partnership between the University of East London and Make Happen, the Summer School brought together students from both organisations’ partner schools and colleges, creating an exciting opportunity for young people from different backgrounds to connect, collaborate and learn from one another. Throughout the week, students took part in a packed programme of interactive sessions, including:

  • Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset
  • Turning Ideas into Businesses
  • Imagine, Design, Build and Fabricate Your Product
  • Storytelling: Design, Branding and Voice
  • Collaborative Skills and Strengths
  • Debate Mate
  • Industry 5.0
  • Personal Statements
  • Student Finance workshops
  • Campus tours
  • Pitching practice

The programme encouraged students to think creatively, work collaboratively and develop their communication, problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills, all while experiencing life at university.

The week finished on a high with an exciting Dragon’s Den showcase, where every team presented their business ideas and products to a panel of judges. The judges challenged students with thoughtful questions that encouraged them to think critically, refine their ideas and present with confidence, while celebrating the creativity, innovation and hard work each team had invested throughout the week. It was fantastic to see the friendships, confidence and entrepreneurial mindset that developed over the five days, with students supporting one another and embracing every opportunity to learn.

The Summer School was a brilliant example of what can be achieved through collaboration between UEL and Make Happen, leaving students with new skills, lasting memories and greater confidence in their future aspirations. We can’t wait to do it all again next summer!
