The Thriving Lives Toolkit
Helping schools support children and young people in Armed Forces families
The Thriving Lives Toolkit interactive platform developed by the SCiP Alliance in partnership with the Office for Students Uni Connect Programme and The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust was launched in May 2022. The Thriving Lives Toolkit is a free evidence-based framework of seven principles to assess, develop and implement a support structure to best allow Service children to thrive. Teachers’ resources from the supporting service children event on 28 February 2022
On behalf of Make Happen, neaco and the SCiP Alliance, we’d like to thank you for joining us on Monday 28 February 2022, for the event: How to best support your service children. We hope you found the content useful and took away some helpful tips, especially in relation to embedding the Thriving Lives toolkit to help you support your service children. For those teachers who were not able to join us, I have attached the slides above, as well as the delegate handbook, which includes information on the Thriving Lives toolkit. As students in years 11 and 13 prepare to make the transition to their next phase of employment or training the Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for Schools and Colleges programme has been expanded to offer teachers new resources to help support and advise students to consider their local options and understand what’s available locally.
Toolkits, tasters and posters
Colchester Institute has produced a useful schools’ liaison toolkit, with some great, clear resources and videos or schools to use, such as a quick introductory video, subject information posters, and prospectuses.
The T Level lowdown pack
T-Levels have produced a range of useful resources for teachers and careers advisers, including digital tools and poster bundles, to equip you with the information you need to help your students and their parents and carers understand the new courses and engage with T Levels.
Journey towards uni for years 8 and 9
For students in years 8 and 9: Anglia Ruskin University is encouraging school students in years 8 and 9 to discover more about how you can go from where you are today towards your future at university, a degree apprenticeship, and your career with this new teacher’s resource called ‘Eyes on the Prize.’
Journey towards uni for years 7 and 8
For students in years 7 and 8: we’ve produced this teacher’s resource: ‘My journey from KS3 to Higher Education’ for years 7 and 8 that invites teachers to discover a fresh approach to helping your students explore future options. The programme is six flexible bitesize sessions, lasting 20 to 30 minutes each, to be used during tutor time.
